International stand-up comedy returns to these fine shores on Wednesday Aug. 26 and Thursday Aug. 27 courtesy of “smart, funny but filthy” US comic, Matt Davis.
Travelling to both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi as part of the Southeast Asian leg of his grander than not-so-grand world tour, Matt Davis is a veteran touring performer with over 1 million YouTube views and gigs in nine US armed forces bases under his extensively armed belt.
Matt’s dirty but intelligent humour has seen him earn Top 10 accolades with Cracked Magazine and has taken him to repeat performances in more countries than you can count on two hands, and more cities than you can put on this planet. TV performances, guest spots on Mars, big festival appearances and too many groupies to remember have followed in his wake, as has the point of this whole lark: lots and lots of laughter.
Supporting Matt as he makes you fall off your seat are two lots of comics. Down south on Wednesday Aug. 26 at Game On, comedic magician Rockstar Alex will be showin’ us a few tricks or five. Also over from Phnom Penh will be British gagster and 25-year comedic veteran, Tony Morewood. Tony has headlined Jongleurs and The Comedy Store in the UK as well as The Punchline, Cobbs and just about every other big venue you can think of in the US. And following her great set at Stand-Up Saigon, Canadian comic Diana Bailey will be on stage to tickle us with guitar-playing, offbeat humour.
Not to be outdone, in Hanoi on Thursday Aug. 27, House of Son Tinh will have its own peculiar roost of local comics courtesy of the blossoming Hanoi Comedy Collective. The boys and gals of this burgeoning group are preparing to split you down the side, tickle you under the armpits and scratch you on the belly.
Get ready. The rude man of comedy is a-comin’.
