
By 1973, many countries around the world had cottoned on to the fact that the conflict in Vietnam was drawing to a close, and that only one government could boast legitimacy. Australia, Canada, Luxembourg, the UK and Japan all began diplomatic relations at this time. Denmark had already jumped the gun in 1971. The fact that 1973 was the watershed for so many countries means that this year, all these countries are falling over themselves to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic ties with one of Asia’s most significant tigers. The bottom line; we’re in for a whole year of cultural collaborations and events from some of the biggest embassy-linked cultural institutions in the city.
